The best sports handicappers preview tonight’s matchup between the Tar Heels and Hoosiers. This very storied North Carolina team finds itself back in the national spot light at #13. They will need to be nearly perfect to beat the undefeated Hoosiers who currently hold the top spot in the NCAA rankings.

Current Vegas Odds have the Hoosiers as 10 point favorites at home, while the total sits at 152. While public money heavily favors North Carolina, the expert money is leaning towards the number one Hoosiers by almost double. The total is being played heavily by both sides, as the Hoosiers are averaging 88.7 points per game, and the Tar Heels are scoring 85.3. The issue could be that both teams are allowing mid 60’s per game. It will be interesting to see if this will become a defensive battle or a run and gun high scoring shoot out.

The Tar Heels are 4-1 against the spread thus far, led by 6’9 Forward James MacAdoo, who is averaging 16.8 points per game to go along with his 8.8 rebounds and 10 steals. The Tar Heels are shooting at a 47.1% clip from the field and 38.8% from three point range. However, their free throws certainly leave something to be desired, shooting only 58.6 percent from the charity stripe, leaving a good amount of points at the line.

Meanwhile, the undefeated Hoosiers are 5-1 against the spread, and the over is 3-1 in games they’ve played. Cody Zeller is averaging 15.2 points per game for the Hoosiers, while Kevin Ferrell leads in assists averaging 4.8. Their big man down low, Christian Watford averages 8 rebounds per game. This is sure to be a battle down low. The Hoosiers are averaging a 52.5% shooting while shooting  an astounding  41.4% from three point land. The Hoosiers shoot much better from the free throw line at 74%.

North Carolina will not lay down, and without question, will come out ready to play. But the question will be matchups. The Tar Heels may not have what it takes to contain this powerful Hoosiers club.
